Act 10 STRUCK DOWN!
On Wednesday, July 3 parts of Act 10 were ruled unconstitutional by Dane County Circuit Judge Jacob Frost. Act 10, as many Local 212 members recall, is the Scott Walker initiated law that has greatly reduced the impact of public sector labor unions in Wisconsin (including Local 212). It is because of Act 10 that union membership has become optional for those represented, as well as forced all represented to vote annually to recertify, and it has limited what the union is able to bargain for in yearly wage negotiations. The impact of Act 10 and its reversal cannot be understated, THIS IS A BIG WIN FOR PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN!
The judge has yet to offer a final ruling, but we will keep membership updated as the new rules governing public sector unions in Wisconsin are unveiled
