Local 212's Super Stormer Fans

Congratulations to the MATC Stormers Men's Basketball Team on another successful season! Coach Casey and the Stormers took fifth place in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament held two weeks ago in Danville, IL.

The Stormers were anchored by Mason Johnson, North Central Community College Conference and district tournament MVP, the son of William and Beverly Johnson. Bev is a long time Hospitality Management faculty and beloved Local 212 Executive Board Vice President. (She plans GREAT parties and outings for us!)

Alongside Beverly is Michelle Felix, PhD who has shepherded many Stormer athletes through her English courses and supported them through some very tough times, including the untimely deaths of Stormer Will Kellerman in 2017 and Justin Briley this past February. In fact, both Michelle and her husband Craig traveled with several coaches and teammates to attend Justin's services in Dallas, TX. There are also rumors that Dr. Michelle has shuttled meals and other necessities to players and families when needed.

Both Beverly and Michelle exemplify what is so special amount MATC educators, paraprofessionals and other frontline workers. Day in and day out they are dedicated to addressing the myriad of needs our students often bring to us. They are role models, not just for our students, but for their colleagues as well. Thank you Professors Felix and Johnson!
