Local 212 Recent Para Accomplishments

Your Para leadership team has been hard at work fighting for you and calling out inequities as they arise. Here is a partial list of what Local 212 has been able to accomplish for Paras this academic year.

  • Called out student support staffing shortages and pathway inequities, accomplishing some improvements and pressing for expanded investment in student supports

  • Exposed the toxic culture in the Enrollment Services Department and continue to work with para members to resolve this issue

  • Continued to advocate for and gained meaningful change related to shared governance at the college, including the transition of the Learn Pillar Integration Committee (LIPC) into the Academic Integration Council (AIC) and launched the Enrollment Integration Council (EIC), laying a foundation for a stronger frontline expert voice, a more balanced, and representative, academics-student services structure for decision-making (the EIC came to fruition after multiple years of advocacy and admin-based stalled starts!)

  • Launched the Paraprofessionals organizing councils

We are looking to accomplish much more as the year continues and are grateful for the active para engagement at the college that makes this bargaining unit so vibrant!
