Unions Representing USPS Workers Respond to Agreement with DOGE

Unions representing USPS workers strongly oppose Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s agreement with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), citing concerns over potential privatization and job threats.

  • NALC President Brian Renfroe emphasized that postal workers’ safety, data security, and job stability must come first, warning against privatization that could jeopardize 640,000 USPS jobs and 7.9 million related jobs.

  • APWU denounced DOGE’s involvement in USPS, stressing that postal services should remain under Congressional oversight rather than controlled by an unelected billionaire.

  • NPMHU expressed concern over DOGE’s track record of dismantling federal agencies and vowed to fight any attempt to privatize USPS, which could disrupt vital mail services like Social Security checks and medication deliveries.

All three unions pledged to protect USPS workers and the public Postal Service from external privatization efforts.
