Para Meeting Updates February 2024

All represented paraprofessionals were invited to join Local 212 Para Leaders in a meeting to discuss ongoing issues on Thursday, February 22. The meeting was well attended and we thank all who took time out of their busy schedules to join us. Some important matters were discussed, including:

  • A supervisor position that was filled without being posted. Local 212 has been in contact with a law firm regarding this egregious disregard of protocol and is working on filing a Bargaining Unit Clarification Petition with WERC

  • A formal complaint has been filed with HR regarding vacation accruement. Stay on top of your benefits. If you have reached your maximum vacation hours and are no longer accruing, contact L212 Para Leaders so we can investigate

  • Saturday work. If you did not receive pay, and instead received comp time, or if you chose to be paid, and did not, please contact Scott Olsen and L212

  • Admission Navigators. The decision from administration is that they are being changed to advisors and there have been negotiations of what the future holds for them. They will not lose their jobs, but the position is to be eliminated. We are in favor of pay increases/promotion, but there has been no transparency from administration and shared governance has not been utilized. Next meeting with the administration is next week (span of control conversation).

Thank you all again for joining us.
