Oklahoma Bill Would Ban Teaching Facts About Slavery

The movement to control what educators can and cannot teach their students about the history of this country and other "divisive concepts" is not a rumor or an isolated event. As reported, in the January 4th article from Inside HigherED, this Bill mirrors what has been proposed in multiple statehouses, including Wisconsin, by conservative legislatures across the country.

Local 212 member Pablo Muirhead and President Lisa Conley spoke out against proposed similar legislation at the Teach the Truth Rally in Milwaukee on June 12, 2021. You can read Local 212's September 2021 press release HERE. This recent development in Oklahoma demonstrates that our work continues.
