Cyber Security Reminders And Tips on How to Set Digital Boundaries
As we begin the new semester, now is a good time review these cyber security reminders, as well as setting some digital boundaries for yourself.
Security Tips:
Always remember to logout of your MATC Google account when you are not working. This includes private and public computers, as well as phones
Avoid using your MATC email to contact Local 212 for all but initial contact to request a meeting, call or email - keep issue details brief. Should provide preferred personal contact information to for use thereafter
DO NOT use your MATC email to send or receive political items. Use your personal email for these types of communications
Tips for setting digital boundaries:
Set digital office hours for yourself and commit to not checking work related communications outside of these hours (Don't forget to share these hours with your coworkers or students!)
Turn off your notifications, mute alerts, or use your DO NOT DISTURB function. Unplug and do "what you will" awhile
Take breaks from your screens. Plan or schedule time while you are working to get away from your screens
Setting boundaries and being safe online can take work, but when done correctly you will still be able to be an effective communicator, follow MATC's communication guidelines AND feel less burnout.
