New Local 212 VP Professional Staff Lynnett Harvey
Lynnett is a General Education Pathway Advisor. She was born and raised in Minneapolis, and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication with a Public Relations emphasis from St. Cloud State University. She moved to Milwaukee in 2005 and has been working at MATC ever since. She has spent the bulk of her career at MATC working in the former Professional Development department with faculty and staff, but jumped at the opportunity Guided Pathways provided her to transition to working with students three years ago. She has also worked for 20+ years with children in out of home care--children removed from homes due to neglect/abuse, and long-term foster care or wards of the state. Her passion has always been advocating, and being a voice to those who are voiceless.
As the new VP for Paraprofessionals, Lynnett has had the opportunity to attend the PSRP (Paraprofessionals and School Related Personnel) Conference where Paras from across the country came together in person to strengthen their voices and support the important work they do. She has also represented Local 212 at the AFT National Convention, where Dr. Jill Biden was the featured speaker. At the convention she witnessed a resolution being introduced and approved, expanding the reach of the FAST Fund.
She is excited to grow the voice of Paraprofessionals and looks forward to serving members. You can contact Lynnett at lharvey@local212.org
