Homestretch AFT Bus Tour

[English faculty, Anna Varley gives comments about the Reading Opens the World Project; a new and exciting initiative between AFT and Local 212]

The AFT Homestretch bus tour rolled into MATC this past Friday and spent the day with Local 212. Beginning in the 212 office, AFT representatives met with FAST Fund leadership, Believe in Students Change Makers Fellows, and FAST Fund recipients, as well as Student Voter Project leaders and organizers to discuss the impact of their work at MALC.  Local 212 members, MATC students, and community leaders, including Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, then congregated on the Student Center Plaza for a GOTV rally and a press conference to celebrate the kickoff of Local 212’s AFT Funded “Reading Opens the World” little libraries literacy project. Following the press conference, Local 212 and AFT leaders dropped books at select Little Free Libraries on Milwaukee’s Northside.

Thanks to everyone who was able to join us for this monumental occasion!
