AFT Local 212, MATC Endorses Dr. Jill Underly for State Superintendent.

Primary Election: February 16
General Election: April 6

AFT Local 212, MATC endorses Dr. Jill Underly for State Superintendent.

AFT’s support is based on Dr. Underly’s experience as an educator, her commitment to equity in education and for full funding of our public schools.

A lifelong educator, Dr. Underly has seen firsthand how Wisconsin’s funding formula unfairly benefits wealthy communities with high property values. She’ll make it a priority to chance this formula if she is elected. “Local 212 will actively promote Jill for State Superintendent and people can expect us to be knocking on their doors when it is safe to do so,” says Local 212 Executive Vice-President, Kevin Mulvenna.

Her four point plan for addressing inequity in public education includes:

  • Fully funding and expanding early childhood programming

  • Recruiting and retaining qualified teachers especially in rural and urban areas.

  • Developing mental health support and resources.

  • Revising the current school finance system.

Vote to support fairness and equity for our students.
