Second Annual FAST Fund Gala – A Huge Success!

Over three hundred people, including dozens of MATC students, faculty and staff, packed Flores Hall at the Local 212/MATC Believe in Students FAST Fund 2nd annual Gala and Silent Auction on February 21st.
After an enthusiastic video welcome from Congresswoman Gwen Moore,

MATC graduate, Angel Vega, told the crowd he would not be working at the very MPS grade school he attended or pursuing his four-year teaching degree without the support of the FAST Fund. Ann Perry and Bria Burris, current MATC students, thanked the crowd, explaining that the FAST Fund’s support was critical to continuing their education.

Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes also spoke. The FAST Fund announced the creation of the Mary Anne Gross Memorial Award to the FAST Fund largest annual donor. It was given to her three children, all of whom were in attendance.

The American Federation of Teachers Local 212 (the MATC faculty and staff union), Educators Credit Union, Prime Financial Credit Union and Pete’s Fruit Market sponsored the Gala. Among the attendees were Alex Lasry, Vice President of the Milwaukee Bucks, Dr. Vicki Martin, MATC President, Dr. Lisa Conley, AFT Local 212 President, and Ann Wilson from the MATC district board.
